BCBG Velvet Spiderweb Blouse

My mom was actually the one who found this beauty. We were out shopping one day when she spotted this on the rack. I will never forget - she held it up and asked “Is this too weird for you?” I laughed, grabbed it from her, and said “Not at all!” She should have known by this point - even though I was in my 20s and no longer a crazy goth chick, I still like weird. Just tasteful-weird (aka - I have retired my black vinyl dress coated with rainbow micro-glitter).
This blouse is so wonderfully comfortable. It is the perfect top to wear when I am feeling tired and lazy and a little pudgy. It is unstructured, so it is light and loose and hides all those little fleshy lumps that you might feel insecure about. The body of the blouse in made of a wonderfully silky velvet that floats and dances with you.
Normally I am not one for asymmetrical things, but it doesn’t bother me on this top. I think that had the spider web sleeve been on both sides, I would feel like Stevie Nicks. And that would be bad. With only one fluttery sleeve, I just feel a little dark, a touch gothy, but mostly chic.
I should probably mention that it is not an actual spider web pattern on that floaty sleeve. It’s some sort of swirly, almost flowered pattern, embroidered with black thread on black chiffon. But the edges are jagged, which reminds me of the edges of a spider’s web. Plus, it sounds way cooler to call it spider webs.
